Our Products
A significant component of the world’s commodities portfolio is coal, and we are committed to operating a successful company in a safe, effective, responsible, and sustainable manner. Our coal is utilized in the production of electricity, the production of steel, and various industrial processes, such as the production of cement, aluminum, and nickel. Because of its dependability and affordability, coal continues to play a significant role in the production of steel and electricity in most of the nations where we acquire about 85% of our coal. The remaining coal that we trade is used in India for the production of domestic power, steel, cement, and chemicals.
Coking Coal
Metallurgical coal or coking coal is a grade of coal that can be used to produce good-quality coke. Coke is an essential fuel and reactant in the blast furnace process for primary steelmaking. The demand for metallurgical coal is highly coupled to the demand for steel. Primary steelmaking companies often have a division that produces coal for coking, to ensure a stable and low-cost supply.
Non-coking coal
Non-Coking Coal does not have any caking properties and it is mainly used as thermal coal for power generation. It has a higher ash content and also used in industries like sponge making, cement, fertilizer, glass, ceramic, paper, chemical and brick manufacturing.
Coke
Coke is a grey, hard, and porous coal-based fuel with a high carbon content and few impurities, made by heating coal or oil in the absence of air—a destructive distillation process. It is an important industrial product, used mainly in iron ore smelting, but also as a fuel in stoves and forges when air pollution is a concern.
Iron Ore
Iron ore is a combination of minerals from which metallic iron can be extracted on an economic basis.
Granulated BF Slag
Granulated blastfurnace slag is a waste product of the steel industry that can be upcycled in cement to increase the strength and durability of concrete.A by-product of the steel-making industry, granulated blastfurnace slag (GBFS) is produced by the rapid cooling of iron ore slag. This creates a hydraulic material that is naturally cementitious and high in calcium silicate hydrates (C-S-H), a compound that increases the strength and durability of concrete.
Steel Semis
Steel Semis is not a true form of steel by industry classification but a high-grade form of iron. It is made by combining scrap iron along with scrap steel, usually in a cupola furnace where cast iron and bronze metals are refined. Semi-finished steel is used for the production of finished products. They fall under four categories, i.e., Blooms, Ingots, Billets, and Slabs. Since semi-steel has a significant steel component, it is softer than regular iron.
Steel Finished
The products made by the steel industry share the designation of finished steel products. This means they are tradable products, i.e., they have acquired a form tailored for the steel industry’s customers, e.g., the engineering and construction industries.
